In the past few months, we’ve looked at several of our products and talked about their benefits. Today, we wanted to shine a spotlight on a relatively new addition; Reeded Glass. This type of glazing can give your next composite door project a subtle but effective touch. Here is why we think it’s worth recommending.
Extra Light And Privacy
We introduced Reeded Glass to our collection in early spring. It’s been with us for less than a year but is already proving to be a hit. It’s sometimes referred to as ribbed glass and is a semi-obscure type of glazing. When light passes through Reeded Glass, it gets redirected and as a result, it becomes impossible to see anything on the other side. If you tried to look in a reeded glass window, you’d only see blurred colours and shapes.
Consequently, Reeded Glass is a great choice for anyone looking to make their homes brighter without compromising their privacy. It allows for an airy, welcoming entranceway but stops any curious passers-by from looking in. This makes for a safer home; any household valuables will be hidden from view, so there will be less to tempt criminals into trying to break in.
Retro Glazing Designs
That isn’t to say that Reeded Glass is exclusively about security; it’s also a very fashionable choice. It was enormously popular during the 50’s and 60’s but has been making a comeback of late. There’s a retro charm about Reeded Glass and it evokes a sweet nostalgic feeling that homeowners have been increasingly attracted to. It’s also elegant and surprisingly versatile; it works just as well in traditional farmhouses as it does in modern new builds.
So, while it may be easy to think of Reeded Glass as a vintage throwback, we think ‘timeless’ is a better description. And unlike when it first appeared, it’s now possible to get double-glazed Reeded Glass, so there’s no need to sacrifice energy efficiency for the sake of aesthetics.
So, next time you’re working on a composite door project and the customer wants to include a window, why not recommend Reeded Glass? Take advantage of the extra light, the increased security and its unique vibe and it’s bound to make a lasting impression.
