There are several things we regularly get asked by our customers. They have queries about the style of their door, the energy efficiency, the colour and many more. At Endurance Doors, we’re pleased to say that our doors are made to very exact standards. We take the safety of our customers very seriously and always ensure we’re up to date on current legislation. Here’s everything you need to know about composite doors and fire safety.

Internal Fire Doors

A fire door is one that’s designed to limit the spread of flames from one room to another, allowing the occupants to escape and reducing the damage before the emergency services can respond. Due to their very nature, the majority of fire legislation covers internal doors. After all, it would be less important for an external door to hold back fire because the only place it could go would be outdoors.

That said, our composite doors are highly versatile and while they’re predominantly designed to be external doors, we have several that can be used inside the house. For this reason, we have to keep abreast of fire safety legislation.

Endurance fire doors are commonly used as internal flat doors and give you extra peace of mind. Our McKinley door is a popular choice for the safety-conscious. It’s been tested to the European Standard EN1634-1 and is FD30s rated. In layman’s terms, this means that if a fire breaks out, a closed McKinley door will hold back the smoke and flames for thirty minutes. In an emergency, this could mean the difference between life and death.
