Why Composite Doors Keep Your Home Warmer in Winter

Posted

With the colder months fast approaching, we think now’s the time to raise awareness of the impact that composite doors have on keeping your home warm and comfortable. As we all know, the UK’s weather can be unpredictable at the best of times, but the start and ends of the year can be particularly harsh.

Luckily for you, we have a solution. Our composite doors are the perfect upgrade for your existing entrance, designed to ensure that your home is high-performing and keeps you cosy inside, away from the bitter conditions outside.

What Are Composite Doors?

A composite door is one made from multiple materials, rather than single-material doors like PVC and timber. A composite door combines the best characteristics of different materials to make up an entrance that is strong in all aspects.

Endurance’s unique solid timber core puts them ahead of other composite competitors. While most composite doors will use a lightweight foam core, ours feature a 48mm solid timber core made up of 17 cross-laminated timber layers. This delivers exceptional strength and rigidity, and makes our doors highly resistant to warping, twisting and bowing.

Are Composite Doors Thermally Efficient?

The makeup of our doors also makes them more thermally efficient than alternatives. In case you don’t know what thermal efficiency is, it’s the measure of how well something can minimise heat loss and act as a barrier for the escape of heat from your home. As such, it’s an important aspect to consider when choosing a new front door.

Thermal performance is measured in u-value, which serves homeowners as a good barometer of which doors perform well and which don’t. The lower the u-value, the better the door will be against the cold.

Although U-values can vary slightly between styles, every Endurance composite door achieves a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or lower, ensuring excellent thermal efficiency across our range. For even greater performance, you could opt for triple glazing in place of our standard double-glazed glass designs. This also means they all meet the requirements of the latest approved Document L of Building regulations.

Do Composite Doors Reduce Energy Bills?

The benefits of a thermally efficient home stretch beyond added comfort and cosiness. Because the heat will be kept in your home more effectively, there’ll be much less need to turn your heating on. The rising costs for bills in the UK are no secret, and every little bit of help you can get will go a long way. Investing in an Endurance door will keep you and your bank account happy in the long run.

And, thanks to the reduced need for heating, you’ll even play a part in helping the environment and reducing your carbon footprint. What’s not to love? Keep your home feeling comfortable, save yourself some money and do your bit for the planet – all with the help of an Endurance door.
