How Choosing Endurance Doors Helps The Environment

Posted

At Endurance Doors, we believe that when you choose us, you’re making a conscious decision to contribute to a sustainable future. Unlike other companies that may overlook the environmental impact of their manufacturing processes, sustainability is at the very core of everything we do. From the materials we use to the energy powering our operations, we ensure that every decision we make is focused on minimising our impact on the planet.

Sustainable Timber Sourcing

One of the key ways we stand apart from other door manufacturers is through our responsible sourcing of timber. All the wood used in our composite doors comes from 100% traceable, sustainably managed Finnish forests. For every tree we use in our production, four seedlings are planted in its place. This responsible sourcing ensures that we’re not only meeting the demand for our doors, but we’re also giving back to the environment. By choosing our doors, you’re helping to protect these vital ecosystems, which play a crucial role in absorbing CO₂ from the atmosphere.

Our Doors as Carbon Sinks

Endurance doesn’t just stop at sustainable sourcing; we’ve taken it a step further by designing our products to help combat climate change. Our Kerto Core composite doors are more than just strong and secure; they also act as carbon sinks. Each door stores carbon dioxide, preventing it from being released into the atmosphere. In fact, every 1m³ of our Kerto LVL solid core stores approximately 1 tonne of CO₂.

What’s even more impressive is that the production of our Kerto LVL solid core is carbon-negative from the forest floor to the mill. This means that during the production process, we actively remove more CO₂ from the atmosphere than we emit. By choosing an Endurance door, you’re not just investing in a high-quality product—you’re also playing a part in reducing global carbon emissions.

Zero-Waste Manufacturing

Another way we distinguish ourselves from other companies is through our commitment to zero-waste manufacturing. At Endurance, we’re proud to say that 0% of our production waste is sent to landfill. Every bit of waste generated during our manufacturing process is either recycled or responsibly managed, ensuring that we minimise our environmental footprint as much as possible.

Our zero-waste approach demonstrates our commitment to sustainability at every stage of the production process. From the way we source our materials to the disposal of waste, we’re constantly looking for ways to operate in an eco-friendly manner.

Powering Our Future with Renewable Energy

Sustainability doesn’t just apply to our products; it’s also about how we power our operations. In 2022, we made a major investment by installing 500 solar panels at our factory in Brigg, North Lincolnshire. This investment is part of our broader goal to only use electricity generated from renewable sources, rather than relying on fossil fuels. By using solar power, we’re able to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, making our entire production process more sustainable.

This is just one step in our journey to becoming completely carbon-neutral by 2030. We believe that renewable energy is the future, and we’re committed to leading the way in integrating these technologies into our operations.

Offsetting Carbon Emissions

Even with all of the steps we’ve taken to reduce our carbon emissions, there are always residual emissions that are difficult to eliminate. To address this, we’ve partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain, one of the UK’s leading carbon offsetting initiatives. Through this partnership, we support a variety of projects aimed at reducing global carbon emissions.

Some of the projects we support include a hydroelectric power station in Chile, a wind farm in Mongolia, and an energy-efficient lighting initiative in India. These projects help offset any emissions we can’t directly reduce, allowing us to maintain our carbon-neutral status. By choosing Endurance, you’re also supporting these important initiatives that make a positive impact on the global environment.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to the Future

We’re not stopping with the progress we’ve already made. At Endurance, we have set an ambitious goal of becoming completely carbon-neutral by 2030. To achieve this, we’re introducing a number of new initiatives, including providing electric-powered vehicles for our business development team and service engineers. This will significantly reduce the carbon emissions associated with the transportation of our products.

Additionally, we’re committed to phasing out single-use plastics at our production facilities. We understand the environmental harm caused by plastic pollution, and we’re actively working to eliminate single-use plastics from our supply chain.

Sustainability Is Our Core

At Endurance, sustainability is not just a trend—it’s a fundamental part of who we are. We believe that every business has a responsibility to reduce its environmental impact, and we’re proud to be leading the way in the composite door industry. Every door we produce reflects our commitment to protecting the planet, from responsibly sourced materials to zero-waste production processes.

When you choose Endurance, you’re not just choosing a high-quality, durable product. You’re also choosing to make a positive impact on the environment. By supporting our sustainable practices, you’re helping us create a greener future for everyone.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference. For more information on our sustainability initiatives, visit our Green Promise page.
